PC Tech Magazine is Born

East Africa's Most Contemporary Magazine

PC Tech Communications, Uganda collaborates with PearlRichards Foundation to produce PCTech Magazine. PC Tech Magazine is a monthly technology magazine that was debuted in February 2010, which to date has grown to become a major force in technology circles, being the only MONTHLY magazine on technology. It runs content geared at facilitating both the understanding and application of technology in business processes in Africa, which makes Technology education a core objective.

To contribute to the promotion of technology education in Africa, the PC Tech "Educate" Initiative has been launched. Every month through this initiative, PC Tech and PearlRichards Foundation donate 5 magazines to each of the 20 selected schools and institutions of higher learning across Uganda. This initiative primarily focuses on Uganda but will be extended to other African countries by the end of the year.

So far, institutions under this programme include: African College of Commerce, Makerere University Business School, St. Lawrence University, Kigezi College Butobere,  and Kigezi High School. Members of the PC Tech "Educate" initiative will also be able to participate in an on-line interaction, in which they can discuss ICT-related topics, and engage in knowledge sharing.

PearlRichards: What is the vision and mission of PC Tech?
Albert: Africa is at a do-or-die stage in  the application of technology in day-to-day business processes. All projects run by PC Tech Communications are geared at making our continent move faster in that direction. Our mission is to be the leading media organization which promotes openness and collaboration on sustainable innovations in Technology, Business and society in Africa. Our vision is to create and disseminate in-print and online products on Technology, Business and Society that have a global perspective but contextually relevant to Africa.
PearlRichards: What is unique about PC Tech Magazine and where do you think this initiative will be in the next five years?
Albert: PC Tech Magazine is the only international technology magazine in the East African region. I have not come across any other magazine that embraces ICT education and research publications in the same way as PC Tech does. But that is just on the side of the print publication. We have several projects running online... like Digital Learning Africa. Overall, we are looking at a world class magazine in Africa, and a number of out-of-the-box initiatives online. That combination is what makes PC Tech stand out. In five years time, I expect PC Tech to be a global brand: not just as an authority in the technology media industry but a one stop for all ICT-related consultancies.
PearlRichards: Many thanks, Albert. We pledge to take this ride with you!
Albert: It's my utmost pleasure, to have you on-board.

About Albert Mucunguzi

Albert Mucunguzi, a.k.a almuc, is the Executive Director at Galaxy Communications Ltd, a company he founded in 2007. His being a practitioner of Information Technology has been purely a result of self-motivation and hardwork, having not initially acquired extensive classroom education in that field. At Makerere University, Albert was a Statistics Major, minoring in Economics. He attended Kabale Primary School, Ntare School, and finally Kigezi College, Butobere, where he's remembered as an intelligent Mathematician, following his excellence in the subject while there and in the Maths Contest papers he sat at that time.

He, however believes what one becomes in life purely depends on what their hearts desire... regardless of whether they may be adequately or inadequately facilitated to achieve it. He believes, what he refers to as 'conflict' can only delay - but not stop a willing and determined heart, arguing that life is all about conflict. That there always seems to be something standing in the way of everything. Though usually, risks must be taken.

Currently, he is the Executive Director of PC Tech Communications, the company that publishes PC Tech Magazine. He has started and managed various businesses and concepts, but his core business is always built on graphics designing and scripting, having developed  over 70 websites (commercially). While others wonder how he manages all such responsibility at the same time, Albert wonders if there is a way he could increase the number of hours in a day to, at least 26!
